Services
The UCF College of Medicine has been awarded a cooperative agreement by the federal government to develop a Regional Extension Center. The mission of the Central Florida Health Information Technology Initiative, UCF's Regional Extension Center (UCF-REC), is to improve healthcare delivery in Brevard, Lake, Orange, Osceola, Polk, Seminole and Volusia counties by promoting the widespread and meaningful use of health information technology.
The UCF-REC staff is able to work with your practice even if you have already selected and / or implemented an EHR system. The UCF-REC staff will be able to provide services to you regardless of which EHR system you select.
The UCF-REC will provide:
- Personalized assessments, recommendations, planning, and project management services to help you transform your practice
- Workflow analysis and redesign to enhance your use of EHRs and achieve "meaningful use"
- Help facilitate connectivity and interoperability via interfaces with electronic labs and the CFRHIO (Central Florida Regional Health Information Organization)
- Support to help your office qualify for Medicare and Medicaid incentives (up to $44,000/physician for Medicare and $65,000/physician for Medicaid over a five year period) and avoid future penalties
As stated above, the UCF-REC will work with any EHR Vendor; however, we have identified four EHR vendors as “Preferred.”
What is a “Preferred” EHR Vendor?
“Preferred” EHR Vendors have successfully participated in the vendor selection process and agreed to the following conditions of participation for UCF-REC Members:
1) Free upgrades of the EHR system to maintain Meaningful Use Requirements. (NOTE: Members must have current support agreement.)
2) The UCF-REC will develop a standard provider contract terms and language (i.e. model contract) with a REC addendum to minimize contracting, system implementation, and sustainment costs for members. This contract could include implementation timelines standards, most favored nations pricing standards, limitation on yearly fee increases, and additional telephone vendor support options.
3) The EHR system is required to maintain certification from an ONC designated entity.
4) Vendors are to develop affordable financing options.
5) Vendors will develop the interface from their product to the CFRHIO (Central Florida Regional Health Information Organization) at no cost to REC members.
6) Vendors will work with the UCF-REC to develop quality reports that REC members can use.
7) Vendors will allow the UCF-REC to develop and charge UCF-REC members for interfaces connections their EHR system to certain other health information technology systems.
8) Status as a "Preferred” EHR Vendor can be revoked at any time.
